Kawasan budidaya udang yang dimaksud adalah Budidaya Udang Berbasis Kawasan (BUBK) di Kebumen, Jawa Tengah. Proyek ini sejatinya adalah prototipe atau contoh awal dari pembangunan tambak modern yang ramah lingkungan.
Bisa dikatakan ramah lingkungan karena tambak ini punya sistem pengelolaan air yang canggih dan Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah yang efektif, sehingga produktivitas udang vaname yang dibudidaya bisa terus maksimal dan ramah lingkungan.
Presiden Prabowo Subianto merasa tertarik untuk meninjau langsung kawasan tersebut, sekaligus melihat proses pemanenan secara langsung. Presiden merasa sektor ini sangat menjanjikan dari segi ekonomi.
Benar saja, BUBK ini bisa menghasilkan udang sebanyak 40 ton untuk setiap hektare-nya dan jika dikalikan dengan harga jual Rp70 ribu per kilogram, tentu keuntungannya sangat luar biasa.
Dampak Ekonomi dan Penyerapan Tenaga Kerja
BUBK di Kebumen sudah menjadi salah satu mesin penggerak ekonomi di sana. Kawasan budidaya udang yang terdiri dari 206 petak kolam dengan nilai produksi mencapai Rp67,2 miliar per siklus, atau sekitar Rp134,4 miliar per tahun tentu sedikit banyaknya sudah berhasil meningkatkan kesejahteraan bagi masyarakat sekitar.
Ekspansi Skala Besar: Dari Kebumen ke Waingapu
Dari keberhasilan yang diperlihatkan oleh BUBK Kebumen, pemerintah tentu akan melanjutkan pembangunan kawasan yang sama di lokasi-lokasi strategis lainnya. Saat ini yang sudah disiapkan adalah pembangunan tambak seluas 2.000 hektare di Waingapu, Kabupaten Sumba Timur, Nusa Tenggara Timur.
Modal Kuat Indonesia di Kancah Global
Jika ditelaah lebih jauh, Indonesia sebenarnya lebih unggul dari negara-negara penghasil udang lainnya. Keunggulan Indonesia ialah mempunyai lahan potensial yang luas, sehingga untuk melakukan ekspansi atau pembangunan proyek besar seperti di Kebumen dan Waingapu akan lebih mudah.
Dengan modal seperti itu, indonesia punya potensi besar menjadi negara penghasil udang nomor satu di dunia. Pemerintah saat ini memang punya target membangun ratusan ribu hektare tambak modern, jika target ini tercapai maka sektor perikanan diprediksi bisa menyumbang devisa negara hingga triliunan rupiah setiap tahunnya.
Masa Depan Industri Perikanan Indonesia
Indonesia dinilai punya semua yang dibutuhkan untuk menjadi pusat produksi udang dunia, baik itu sumber daya, teknologi dan komitmen yang kuat. Pemerintah untuk saat ini sebaiknya fokus mengola semua modal tersebut, supaya industri udang nasional bisa menjadi primadona di kancah internasional.
